SCARS MAKE INTERESTING - WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT FULL-GRAIN LEATHER

Animal hides are split into multiple layers during leather production, allowing an animal's hide to produce different types of Leather: Full Grain, Top Grain, and Genuine Leather. Full-grain leather is considered to be of particularly high quality and is valued above all for its special stability. In German, it is also referred to as full-grain leather. The name almost reveals the secret of this type of leather because full-grain leather is characterized by a distinctive and always unique surface structure. It comes from the top layer of the animal's skin and, therefore, still has all the characteristic features of animal skin: Pores, small stitches, and scratches. In contrast to Genuine Leather, these special features are not sanded off in full-grain leather but are even given an additional shine by a fine layer of wax. Top Grain leather is similarly stable to Full Grain but is lightly sanded, giving it a particularly soft, almost velvety feel. The surface of Top Grain is matte and altogether more receptive to the influences of daily wear. Thus, it develops its characteristic patina over time. The decision between Full Grain and Top Grain is, therefore, often a decision of personal taste. The bottom leather layer is called Genuine Leather. It has the lowest fabric density and is, therefore, softer and less robust than Full Grain or Top Grain. So the "Genuine Leather" seal doesn't say much more than that it's not synthetic leather. Genuine leather can also be of outstanding quality, but you shouldn't be too impressed by the seal alone.

SUPPLE AND ROBUST - THE ADVANTAGES OF FULL-GRAIN LEATHER

Accessories made of leather can make all the difference in your wardrobe. High-quality material and craftsmanship are immediately apparent in leather goods. That's why bags made of full-grain leather are especially prized among connoisseurs. But what exactly makes full-grain so special? Animal hides become softer from the outside in, and accordingly, full-grain leather is by far the most robust of all types of leather. It is the outermost layer of leather and has the most important protective function for the animal. The fabric density of full-grain leather is particularly high, which means that caring oils are stored longer than in other leathers. This makes it supple despite its robustness while remaining less susceptible to dirt and moisture. Since full-grain leather may not be sanded further, only a fraction of the animal hide is considered for processing. This is what makes it such a select material. Due to its robustness, the processing of full-grain leather also requires special craftsmanship. With an accessory made of genuine full-grain, you can therefore be sure that the leather has passed through the most capable hands until it finally becomes a bag. For us, this begins with the process of tanning: just like all of the leathers we use, our Full Grain leather is exclusively vegetable tanned. Thus, all the qualities that leather has by nature are preserved and can fully develop.

SIMPLE BUT EFFECTIVE - THE RIGHT CARE FOR FULL-GRAIN LEATHER

Bags made of full-grain leather are pleasantly easy to care for. Initially, it is worthwhile to grease the bag sparingly, but then you can sit back for a while. Only when you feel that your bag is gradually becoming paler and drier is it recommended to treat the leather again. The best way to do this is to use our in-house leather care. As with other types of leather, it can be easily massaged into full-grain leather, thus keeping it supple and soft. Here's how you should proceed: Remove dust and dirt from your bag with a soft brush or cloth. Also, make sure that your bag is dry before you start the care process. Now also apply the care product with a soft cloth or ideally with an application sponge and massage it in gently. Then let the bag rest for a few hours so that the leather care can penetrate deep into the fabric. Give the leather a little time, and do not place the bag near heaters to speed up the process. Afterward, it is advisable to rub the leather again with a soft brush or cloth and remove any excess care product. Afterward, your accessory will appear a few shades darker than before, but don't worry: this is completely normal. YAAGLE leather is a natural product and changes over time. This is how you can tell if the leather should be cared for again. At the latest, if it appears cracked at crease points, you should treat your bag. To protect your bag against rain and extreme moisture, it is also worthwhile to treat the bag regularly with impregnation spray. Make sure that the impregnation agent is colorless and follows the manufacturer's instructions. This will give your YAAGLE the best possible protection.leather briefcase
